Arkansas River Valley
The Arkansas River Valley is between the Ozark Mountains and the Ouachita Mountains. It consists of low, flat farm land, as well as mountains; like Mount Magazine. It also has many lakes.
Fort Smith is the biggest city in the Arkansas River Valley. It has many places to visit, but the most interesting place to go is the Fort Smith Museum of History. This Museum tells the History of Fort Smith from its beginning. It displays historic items and explains the growth of Fort Smith.
Another historic place to go is Fort Chaffee. It was a WW2 training facility and prisoner of war camp during the 1940's. Elvis Presley got his G.I. hair cut at the barber shop at Fort Chaffee, which is now the Barber Shop Museum.
If you enjoy the outdoors, an eye pleasing place to go in the River Valley area, is Mount Magazine State Park. The park has many things to do. It has lots of trails to take you exploring places through the mountainside. There are lodges and cabins to stay overnight. And there even is a restaurant in the park.
